Enter each service-connected rating. The calculator combines them the way VA does under 38 C.F.R. § 4.25, applies the bilateral factor under § 4.26 where it fits, and estimates your monthly payment using the rates effective December 1, 2025.
Enter each rated condition on its own line. If a condition is in an arm or leg, choose that limb, even if another condition is in the same limb (for example, a right knee and a right ankle are both “right leg”). The whole limb counts, from the hip or shoulder down, and nerve conditions in a limb count too. The bilateral factor applies when both arms, or both legs, each have at least one rating of 10% or more.
Dependents increase the payment only at a combined rating of 30% or higher.
Select at least one rating to see your combined rating and estimated monthly payment.

How this estimate works. VA does not add ratings. Each rating applies only to the portion of you still considered “whole” after the higher ratings are applied, starting with the most severe (38 C.F.R. § 4.25). The final value is rounded to the nearest 10, with 5 rounding up. For bilateral limb conditions, those ratings are combined first and 10% of that value is added before combining with the rest (§ 4.26). If leaving a limb rating out of that step gives a higher result, VA uses the higher result (§ 4.26(d)), and so does this calculator.
Limits. This is an estimate, not a decision. It does not account for Special Monthly Compensation, a seriously disabled (helpless) child, TDIU, temporary 100% ratings, retirement pay or severance offsets, or rating reductions. Payment amounts are from the VA compensation rate tables effective December 1, 2025.
