Choose a condition to see the criteria VA uses to assign each rating level, taken from the VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities (38 C.F.R. Part 4), and the kind of evidence that shows where you fall.

How to read this. VA assigns the rating whose criteria your condition most closely matches. When your symptoms fall between two levels, the higher rating applies if your disability more nearly approximates it (38 C.F.R. § 4.7). Criteria are quoted from the regulation as it stood in September 2026.
Limits. This is a reference, not a rating decision. Some conditions can be rated under more than one diagnostic code, and VA may rate by analogy when a condition isn't listed (§ 4.20). Separate ratings for related problems, extraschedular ratings, and special monthly compensation are not covered. Source: 38 C.F.R. Part 4 on eCFR.
